50th Anniversary
Our Story
The White Eagle Club was founded more than 50 years ago with a soft opening in 1971 and a formal opening on 16 February 1973. It was a remarkable feat achieved by a group of dedicated, and enthusiastic members of the Polish community in Canberra. Their clear objective was to preserve Polish heritage, cement friendships and links within the Polish community and to provide a service to Club members.
The Club is commemorating its 50th anniversary with a range of activities, including publishing a short history of early beginnings and the Club’s growth into what it is today. As part of the European Festival in May the Club celebrated 50 years of multicultural activity. A spectacular Anniversary Ball was held in June. Later in the year, ‘Polish Week’ at the Club will showcase Polish heritage, culture, food, and drink. Not to be missed.
